Pinsent Masons has promoted 22 lawyers to partner in its latest promotions round, which sees the firm’s partnership exceed 500.  

The cohort is evenly split between men and women – broadly in line with the previous years’ 25- and 23-strong groups, in which women made up 44% and 48% of the total respectively. 

It brings Pinsents, which narrowly missed its target of achieving a 30% female partnership by 2020, closer to its aim to have a partnership that is 35% female by 2030. 

As in previous years most of the promotions were handed out on the firm’s home turf, with 14 of the 22 spots going to lawyers in the UK. Five were promoted across EMEA and three in Asia Pacific, raising the firm’s overall partner headcount to 502.  

All of Pinsents’ sectors and practice groups have welcomed new additions, including 10 new partners in the energy sector and five in the technology, science and industry (TSI) sector.

Seven of the energy promotions went to UK-based lawyers, whose practices cover a range of areas including real estate, disputes, corporate, financial services and infrastructure, projects and forensic and accounting services.  

The three remaining energy promotions went to construction advisory and disputes resolution specialist Yong Nen Chan and construction lawyer Peter Jang in Singapore and Melbourne-based projects disputes lawyer Nicole Whitby.  

Meanwhile the TSI promotions were split between the UK, where there were three, and Ireland, where IP disputes lawyer Karen Gallagher and corporate and real estate lawyer Dorian Rees were both made up.  

The rest of the UK promotions went to employment and reward duo Kate Dodd and Christopher Evans, restructuring specialist James Hillman, real estate lawyer Rebecca Rowley and Rami Labib, who specialises in advising higher education providers on regulatory and commercial matters.  

Completing this year’s promotions are corporate lawyer Frits Burg and employment lawyer Stephanie Dekker, who were made up in the firm’s Amsterdam office, and Johannesburg-based projects specialist Emma Roberts.

The promotions, effective 1 May, follow the firm reporting a 7.8% hike in profit per equity partner to £797k for the 2023 financial year, when revenue grew 14% to £606m. The results marked the 11th successive year the UK firm has increased turnover.
