Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner (BCLP) has elevated 24 lawyers to partnership in its 2024 promotions round.

That is a 14% increase on its 2023 intake, when 21 lawyers made partner. However, there was a significant drop off in the proportion of female promotions, with women making up 25% of the 2024 cohort, compared to 38% this year. The firm now has 480 partners worldwide. The promotions will be effective from 1 January.

The London office again saw the most promotions, with nine, up from five in the 2023 cohort. Though the US saw the most promotions overall with 14, spread across its offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Denver, Kansas City, Los Angeles, San Francisco and St. Louis. The promotions were also spread across more than a dozen different practices and sub-practices.

In a joint statement, BCLP co-chairs Lisa Mayhew and Steve Baumer said: “We’re proud to see these lawyers recognised for their contributions to the firm and dedication to serving our clients. Disputes and real estate-related practices saw the most promotions. Those included LA and Atlanta-based commercial disputes litigator Christian Bromley; financial services disputes and investigations lawyer Carolyn Browne in Denver; London-based litigators Rhys Corbett and Andrew Leitch and business and commercial disputes lawyer Andrew Street; Middle East disputes lawyer Richard Dupay in Dubai; and commercial disputes lawyers Helen Goodman in San Francisco and Jacob Simon in St. Louis.

On the real estate side, the promotions included London-based commercial real estate lawyers Daniel Burnand and Janany Kathirgamanathan and real estate finance lawyer Benedict West; and commercial real estate lawyers Puanani Norwood in LA and Kansas City, Bryan Reid in Denver and Jennie Wynne in St. Louis.

Dupay in Dubai was the only lawyer outside of the firm’s UK and US offices to make partner in this latest round, compared to the 2023 intake when there was a promotion a piece in Paris and Singapore.

Earlier this year, BCLP cut 47 global business services roles, mostly in the US. There have also been a number of leadership changes, with Baumer being named global CEO, a position he will take up in the new year as the firm moves to a single leadership structure. Segun Osuntokun will also become the firm’s first global senior partner at the start of next year. Mayhew will step down from her leadership role.
