Vitol and Oman Trading International may now find that neither of them are allowed to fulfill a contract which is being awarded by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation for oil importing. They had, respectively, come first and second in the bidding process. However, industry sources told All Africa that the two companies had allegedly signed a memorandum of understanding to create a business partnership without disclosing this to the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corp. A total of 25 companies - including Trafigura and Addax Energy SA Geneva - had been involved in the tender. The development corporation has now extended the tendering period.
