An unconfirmed number of lawyers have been killed in a suicide bombing attack in the emergency room of a hospital in Quetta, where crowds of colleagues and journalists had gathered to mourn the death of legal figurehead Bilal Kasi. The mourners had gathered at the hospital after Mr Kasi, a prominent local lawyer and former president of the Balochistan Bar Association, was gunned down by as-yet-unidentified armed men earlier in the day. One lawyer, 48-year-old Jameel Ahmed, told The Guardian: ‘I think they planned it so – they knew that lawyers would gather in large numbers at the hospital after the killing of Kasi, so they sent a bomber to attack.’ No group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing.
