Data from Chief Justice Mohan Peiris suggests that 300 out of 14,000 judges are over 70 years of age. The Chief Justice suggests that many of these older judges are not up to date with current laws and that, as a result, many lawyers lose cases in front of them and see their clients lose out. He went on to say: 'Therefore, we expect to bring regulations to terminate the service of any lawyer above 70 years of age.'
