PwC Legal hires new head for Vietnam

PwC Legal has hired Gide Loyrette Nouel's Vietnam head to lead its operations in the country, which has the fastest growing economy in Southeast Asia.

Nasir Dao was Gide’s Vietnam head for three years, having moved from Hogan Lovells where he also led the Vietnam office. Mr Dao joins PwC Legal senior associates Phan Thi Thuy Dong and Le Anh Tuan, who work out of its offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Gide in Asia

Mr Dao’s appointment follows a review by Gide to consolidate its two Vietnamese offices; it now operates solely from Ho Chi Minh City in the south of the country. The firm also recently closed its Hong Kong office, with its team in the city joining local firm Howse Williams Bowers under a new ‘best friends’ arrangement.

Growth in Asia

PwC has been pushing for growth in the Asia-Pacific region this year, taking five partners from law firm rivals in Australia in June and at the same time relocating its global head of legal, Leon Flavell, to Singapore to spur growth in Southeast Asia. It currently has 76 lawyers including nine partners in its offices across the region.
