Employment and labour law specialist Littler Mendelson has added a four-strong team from Danish boutique Skau Reipurth to launch in Copenhagen – marking the San Francisco-based firm’s entry into its 13th European country.
The Skau Reipurth team is led by partner Bo Enevold Uhrenfeldt and includes associate Christian Bonne Rasmussen and two legal trainees.
Enevold Uhrenfeldt will lead the new office, which will operate under the name Littler | enevold. It is the firm’s second Scandinavian location after its base in Oslo, Norway, launched in 2019, and follows the firm expanding its European network in Belgium and across the Iberian Peninsula over the past 18 months.
“We continue to seek opportunities to enhance our global platform by bringing together the top labour and employment lawyers in key international markets,” said Erin Webber, Littler’s managing director and president. “The addition of Bo, a well-known and highly sought-after labour and employment lawyer in Denmark, will boost our roster of European attorneys and allow us to plant our flag in the highly desirable Danish market.”
Recognised as a leading labour and employment lawyer in Denmark by Chambers Europe and Legal 500, Enevold Uhrenfeldt spent six years as a partner at Skau Reipurth prior to founding Littler | enevold and brings nearly two decades of legal experience to his new firm.
He primarily advises employers including multinationals and public institutions on compliance with workplace health and safety laws and on labour relations matters. An experienced litigator, he also defends clients before the civil courts and industrial arbitration tribunals in Denmark, as well as the Danish Labour Court and the Danish Board of Dismissals.
“The Danish market has several unique characteristics that impact employers operating in the region, including its extensive government-provided services, high degree of union membership and specific systems for resolving disputes,” said Peter Susser, Littler’s global practice leader and chair of the firm’s international employment law practice. “Our clients will benefit greatly from Bo’s deep experience and knowledge of Danish laws, customs and workplace culture.”
The Denmark launch follows Littler’s Spanish affiliate Abdón Pedrajas Littler hiring six lawyers from local rival Cuatrecasas in April to open an office in Valencia, its third in the country after Madrid and Barcelona.
The firm’s expansion efforts across the Iberian Peninsula also saw it form a tie-up with boutique law firm DCM Lawyers in Portugal last November, in a move that added three lawyers and offices in Lisbon and the Algarve.
And in May last year the firm marked the launch of its 100th office worldwide through its Belgian partnership with RelianceLittler, which opened in Ghent in a bid to be closer to clients in the Ghent-Kortrijk region – one of the country’s main business hubs.
