The Belmond legal team
Belmond’s legal team, Baker McKenzie and Burberry’s general counsel, Edward Rash, were among the big winners at the Luxury Law Awards.
Also among those walking away with trophies at the awards ceremony were representatives from leading brands Ferretti Group, Manolo Blahnik and Mulberry while specialist IP firm Wolf Greenfield and Holland & Knight also triumphed in the private practice section.
Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, was named Global Fashion Leader, and Laboni Saha, founder and creative director of womenswear brand L Saha, was this year’s Entrepreneur of the Year.
The awards were held at The British Museum yesterday (14 June) in conjunction with Luxury Law Summit London.
Belmond’s legal team, which is led by general counsel Abbi Hunt, was recognised for its work launching a new, and they believe unique, virtual ethics and compliance programme featuring immersive, gamified training.
Bakers beat off strong competition in the Law Firm of the Year category – International Firms, winning the praises of the judging panel for providing strong evidence of the value provided to its clients, working on cutting edge matters with a clear commitment to ESG and sustainability.
Rash, meanwhile, was recognised for his contribution to Burberry during his 15 years at the brand, where he is senior vice president legal.
Three other GCs were among the winners, Mulberry’s Kate Anthony Wilkinson was named General Counsel of the Year, Manolo Blahnik‘s Georgina McManus is 2023 Business Leader of the Year, and Niccolo Pallesi, of Ferretti Group, won IP Counsel of the Year for his work securing the landmark registration at the Italian Patent and Trademark Office of the Riva Yachts brand colour.
